design manual redesigns
The objective of the designer manual redesign assignment was to reimagine educational and instructional publication covers through distinct visual styles while maintaining strong hierarchy, readability, and shelf appeal. The project challenged designers to explore how typography, composition, texture, and visual identity could dramatically alter the tone and audience perception of the same informational content. Through experimenting with contrasting aesthetics such as structured and grunge-inspired design, the assignment encouraged creative exploration while reinforcing the importance of effective editorial and publication design systems.

Structured manual design
grunge manual design
The Grunge manual redesign was included in my portfolio to showcase a more expressive and experimental approach to publication design while still maintaining readability and strong visual hierarchy. The project explored layered textures, distressed visual elements, and more chaotic compositional structures to create a visually impactful design that immediately captured attention and created stronger shelf appeal.

While the aesthetic leaned heavily into grunge-inspired visuals, the design still required careful consideration of typography, balance, and information organization to prevent the layout from becoming visually overwhelming. This redesign challenged my creative thought process by encouraging me to explore how expressive visual styles can coexist with functional editorial design, resulting in a piece that feels energetic, bold, and visually distinctive while remaining cohesive and intentional.
